With the festive season upon us, we want to remind everyone to take extra precautions to keep your homes and belongings safe. Unfortunately, burglaries can increase at this time of year as homes are often filled with gifts and valuables.

Here are some simple steps you can take to reduce the risk:

Keep doors and windows locked at all times, even when you’re at home.

Avoid leaving gifts or valuables in view from windows or doors.

Use timers for lights if you’re going out, so your home looks occupied.

Secure sheds and garages, as tools can be used to break into homes.

Don’t advertise your plans on social media, such as being away from home.

Report suspicious activity immediately by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency.

Our officers will continue to carry out patrols and respond to reports to keep our community safe.
